ALEX JOSIAH KALINSKY, called ‘AJ’ by his friends, was born prematurely on November the 24th to Tova Malka and David Kalinsky in New York City. They had been told that it would be nearly impossible for them to conceive a child naturally and had long since given up on having a family of their own. To their surprise Tova found out she was pregnant and eight months later Alex was born, but it was after a difficult pregnancy for his mother.Tova had preeclampsia and was bedridden for the final few weeks of her pregnancy until Alex was born, over a month early. He had respiratory complications that developed into asthma, which he eventually would grow out of. It was only after he’d survived his initial stay in the NICU that they gave him a middle name, ‘Josiah’ in honor of one of Tova’s grandparents as well as to the Old Testament.Both of Alex’s parents are doctors. His mother studied psychology and became a very successful physician, working with a variety of illnesses and studying neuroscience to help her better her understanding of chemical imbalances as well as the changes brains go through in traumatic incidents. She specialized as a NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST, and has become renowned in her field, publishing multiple studies. His father too is a doctor, a surgeon specializing in cardiology and specifically cardio surgery.Alex came from a long line of doctor’s on both sides of his family but he did not wish to pursue the study. It was made clear to him that humanity was important, that they had an obligation to help one another, especially with their access to money and education.This was reinforced by both his family and the faith he was raised with. While he personally struggled with connecting to a higher being or spirituality, he did take these lessons in morality to heart. Alex spent holidays volunteering with his parents, would donate time or gifts to children in need, and from a young age he knew he wanted to do something to help others.Just not in medicine.He still enjoyed the 'take your kid to work day' and the tiny sodas in the break room.

His parents enrolled him in various activities as a child. Piano lessons, violin, archery, gymnastics, and so on. He tried a little bit of everything, but he lost interest in most of them around the time he started getting bullied at school.The worst of the bullying took place from when he was eleven to thirteen. Alex was an easy target with his smaller stature and big expressive eyes. It came to a head at Hanukkah when he had a mental break and beat his eldest cousin into a coma with a candlestick. Something the kids would make Clue jokes about for the rest of his life.

All of the stress from the bullying had resulted in him developing a dissociative disorder, DEREALIZATION. He was admitted for a short stay at an inpatient facility while his cousin recovered at a nearby hospital. Alex was transferred to a different school and placed on medication while also attending therapy sessions.It isn’t something he talks to anyone about, and he’s adapted to it as best he can but sometimes he can seem detached from a situation; far calmer than he should be given the circumstances. It helped him in becoming a national athlete for both boxing and wrestling, earning him a college scholarship to attend the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA in the state of Philadelphia.Once he arrived at the campus, he immersed himself in everything he could, including a variety of classes and clubs. Psych 101 is where he met SARA, who would become one of two best friends. The Skeet Club is where he met HANNAH who would become the third part of the soon to be intrepid trio.

Alex decided to major in Computer Science and earned a minor in Digital Humanities. He had been accepted into the communications program which would have allowed him to pursue journalism, but decided against it. By this point he had a relatively large online following across multiple social media websites, vine, instagram, twitter, YouTube, etc. He was recognizable on campus with hundreds of thousands of people following his various accounts. It got him invited to a lot of events, like college parties.While at a fraternity party he overheard the brothers joking about how a man had been killed there. Always one for CONSPIRACY THEORIES, he began eavesdropping and ultimately decided to drag Sara and Hannah into his pursuit of the truth. It gave them something to do and an excuse to introduce his friends to one another. They uncovered decade’s worth of evidence against the fraternity, with the ultimate shock of a literal skeleton in the basement. Thus, the TRUTH SEEKING TRIO was born.The trio formed their own online presence and began covering different stories that no one else did. Eventually they started helping people out when no one else would. Strangers started writing to them requesting their help. They became online sensations and throughout college they would dedicate time to recording, researching and publishing the stories they uncovered.For a few years after graduating they continued this with relative success. Eventually Hannah decided she wanted to enlist in the marines and as luck would have it, Alex had just been given the opportunity of a lifetime with a journalism job that would allow him to travel, co-produce and host his own show. They had one last episode to do for their TST channel and amidst all the e-mails and comments they received, it was an actual mailed in letter that caught Alex’s eye. A letter from a man named MARK out of Hope County, Montana. The trio set out within days of reading it, planning to spend their last bit of time together solving the mystery surrounding a supposed cult kidnapping people in the back country of Montana.

Upon arriving in Hope County they meet with Mark, and talk with him about what was happening and why he thought his sister, LENNY had been kidnapped. They decide to spend a day or so investigating the area, finding out what they can before attending THE REVIVAL. Sara and Alex set up a hidden camera that is placed inside of Alex’s shirt pocket so they can get footage of whatever happens.A safety precaution.The Revival turns out to be a tent sermon where JOSEPH SEED preaches to a small gathering in the middle of an otherwise empty field. Lenny is in attendance, and after listening to Joseph preach, the trio turned quad wait outside, biding their time. Eventually the gathering disperses and they follow Lenny along with other members of Eden’s Gate some fifteen miles into the Whitetail Mountains. They hide behind a log, with Alex recording on a mini-camcorder JOHN SEED while he preaches beside a river. Bliss is poured into the water as unwilling people are dunked beneath the surface of it. And when they emerge . . . they’re placid, drugged, different.None other than JACOB SEED sneaks up on the group, holding Alex at gunpoint while demanding the camcorder from him. He hands it over and they’re dragged to the river, where John claims them to have sinned by trying to record the project’s baptism to share with the world. All the while Alex’s hidden pocket cam he’d set up from earlier, is recording. Mark is the first to be baptized, while Alex is held at knife-point by Jacob and other project members hold both Sara and Hannah at bay. Joseph Seed arrives, preaching to Mark once he emerges from the water and then Alex is dragged in next. The three are placed in the back of an SUV, driven to a church in the mountains, and all the while Joseph speaks to them from the front passenger seat of the coming Collapse.They are lined up in front of the church, waiting for FAITH SEED to arrive. When she does she quickly isolates Sara from the others. Hannah, Mark and Alex are taken to a barn and tied up, where they struggle to free themselves throughout the entire night. Meanwhile Joseph and Faith prey on Sara’s loneliness and her addled state from the bliss.They convince her to abandon her friends to join Eden’s Gate. As dawn approaches, Hannah and Mark seem to have given up hope. They don’t want to try and escape, they’re too far out, there’s no one around for miles.All hope seems to be lost.

Alex remembers they have the pocket cam recording, insists they can upload it to the cloud for everyone to see and that they can make it out. After some more struggling, Mark manages to free himself and then unties both Hannah and Alex. It’s then that Hannah comes up with the next part of their plan.They call for the guard outside, pretending to be tied up. Hannah knocks him out with a baseball bat but another arrives soon after. A fight ensues between all of them with the man getting knocked out eventually and Mark’s phone is retrieved.They're too deep in the mountains, there's no signal, so they have to keep moving. They stumble across an armory where Hannah knocks out the men inside and they steal some weapons. Alex and Hannah take a rifle and two handguns respectively while Mark opts for a crossbow. From there they sneak out, slashing the tires of any vehicles that could be used to pursue them when it’s discovered they’ve escaped the barn.They plan to flee, get help and come back for Sara, who unbeknownst to them had already converted. A peggy surprises them and Mark kills the man. Another sneaks up on Alex and proceeds to beat him up. A firefight ensues with each side shooting at one another. The commotion gets Joseph’s attention from inside the church, thinking it to possibly be the beginning of the end. He calls for his brothers.

The three flee into the woods, unable to slash all of the tires which allows the Seed brothers to pursue them, catching up to the group quickly. Eventually they get cell service and Mark makes a call to emergency services requesting they come help and that they’ll meet them at the veteran’s center. Peggies shoot at them, chasing them further into the woods with the Seed brothers close behind.They get pinned down and Hannah insists that Alex needs to abandon them so he has time to upload the pocket cam footage to their YouTube channel. If he doesn’t, then it’s all for nothing. Mark hands over the phone so he has access to the internet to do so, and Alex gives Hannah his only means of defense, a rifle.IT'S THE LAST TIME ALEX WILL SEE EITHER OF THEM ALIVE.

Then he takes off into the woods with the phone, leaving Hannah and Mark behind. John and Joseph manage to trick Hannah and Mark. John flanks the pair while Joseph pretends to surrender to them, standing out in the open with his arms raised. A peggy takes Mark captive and John sneaks up behind Hannah, holding a a gun to her head, disarming her before she can shoot Joseph. THEY'RE BOTH TAKEN CAPTIVE.Meanwhile Alex is running further and further, trying to bide time so the video can upload. Jacob Seed trails him, keeping an eye on him while John and another peggy catch up. Eventually Jacob has a shot, and he takes it, shooting Alex in the back of his left thigh. He goes down, the phone flying out of reach but he crawls after it to check on the upload progress. John has arrived by now and is mocking him, telling him to surrender while Jacob rushes up to the downed vlogger and stomps on his gunshot wound, further immobilizing him.It doesn’t matter; Alex has reached the phone and is looking at the screen. Joseph approaches them and Alex turns over to face the three brothers, smiling victoriously when John says, “Death is upon the world already let us not fight any longer.” With John’s handgun, Jacob’s rifle and the peggys own gun pointed at him, he smiles and says;“WELL FIGHT'S COMIN', WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.”He turns the phone around, displaying the 100% upload to John but it’s Joseph who takes the phone, chuckles then crushes it beneath the heel of his shoe. He kneels over Alex, grabs onto his face and tells him that he’ll be cleansed of his sins, to join him in Eden. The Father leads the way back as John, Jacob and the other peggy pick Alex up and carry him back, kicking and screaming. He has no way of knowing or seeing it, but the footage uploads, and becomes a viral video alongside the other videos they’d posted concerning Hope County.It’s this kidnapping that will kick off the events of Far Cry 5, causing the federal marshal’s office to get involved with a warrant for Joseph Seed.
